The acquisition, which is expected to be completed this month, brings together two complementary businesses with a shared passion for delivering exceptional exhibit and event experiences. <p>As we celebrate Earth Day, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the environmental impact of the events and trade show industry and explore how we can make our operations more sustainable. The drive towards eco-friendliness is not just about reducing our carbon footprint; it&#8217;s about creating a legacy of responsibility and innovation. Here, we outline four key sustainability practices that are reshaping the trade show industry.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. <strong>Eco-Friendly Materials</strong></h3>



<p>The foundation of any trade show booth is the materials used. Sustainable practices start with opting for eco-friendly materials such as bamboo, recycled plastics, and biodegradable fabrics. These materials not only minimize environmental impact but also offer high durability and a modern aesthetic appeal. By choosing suppliers who prioritize green materials, we can significantly reduce the environmental effect that is often associated with producing and disposing of exhibit components.  At Apogee we work closely to refine our construction methods to provide a sustainable and eco-friendly exhibit environment.  For example we can source printed fabric made from recycled plastic water bottles to help reduce waste.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. <strong>Energy Efficiency</strong></h3>



<p>Lighting and digital displays are integral to trade show booths but can consume a lot of energy. Transitioning to LED lighting and energy-efficient screens can drastically cut down power usage. Many venues have adopted energy efficient lighting, as well as programmable lighting and heating/cooling devices that optimize power consumption and throttle their demand based on building occupancy levels.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. <strong>Waste Reduction Strategies</strong></h3>

<p>Waste management is a critical challenge at events. To tackle this, we encourage practices such as digital registration and electronic handouts to minimize paper use. We strongly encourage exhibitors to reduce (*or eliminate) printing paper brochures and shipping them to their shows.  Studies done by Exhibitor Magazine documented that nearly 80% of all literature handed out at trade shows gets disposed of.  The added carbon footprint that is added to your booth by shipping sometimes heavy printed documents is no longer necessary.</p>



<p>Additionally, designing modular booths that can be reused and reconfigured for multiple shows not only reduces waste but also lowers the frequency of manufacturing new structures. Establishing recycling stations throughout the event space and partnering with waste management services that focus on recycling and composting can help ensure that waste is disposed of responsibly. <p>Transportation to and from trade shows can contribute significantly to carbon emissions. We advocate for selecting venues that are accessible by public transportation, encouraging carpooling among attendees, and choosing centralized locations that minimize travel distances. Furthermore, investing in carbon offset programs that support renewable energy projects or reforestation can help neutralize the carbon footprint of events.  We also have strategically placed rental properties in major venues like Orlando and Las Vegas to minimize cross-country shipping costs.</p>

<p>Happy New Year!  It&#8217;s hard to believe another year has passed and exhibitors are already knee-deep in planning for 2024 events and activations. Today we&#8217;ll cover some things you need to know to prepare for a successful 2024 show year. <p>Several things are certain for 2024.  There will be increased pressure on Event professionals to justify participation, more closely measure ROI, and be able to budget for the changing event marketing landscape. <li>Generative AI will influence all channels and quickly.  Generative AI technologies will be used to create personalized event agendas based on an attendee’s interests and preferences. Attendees will be receiving real-time recommendations on sessions and activities to attend, networking opportunities, which will ensure that they have made the most of their time at the event. Personalized recommendations can also be used to suggest relevant targeted exhibitors to visit.</li>

<p>It&#8217;s hard to believe another year has passed and exhibitors are already knee-deep in planning for 2023 events and activations. Today we&#8217;ll cover everything you need to know to prepare for a successful 2023 show year. We will cover the top trends, what to expect on the show floor, how you can navigate a world of increased costs, and we&#8217;ll also include some helpful planning guides to get you started on the path to a year full of successful shows, increased ROI, and a restored faith in the unmatched benefits of face-to-face marketing. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">CEIR Index on 2023 trends</h2>



<p>The <a href="http://www.ceir.org">Center for Exhibition Industry Research</a>, in their recent publication, OmniChannel Marketing Insights, have shared several promising insight with regard to exhibit/event industry participation and attendance.  One notable statistic is that over 80% of exhibitors plan to maintain or increase their participation in events in 2022 and beyond.  75% of event professionals rated their optimism levels at 8 or higher on a scale of 1 to 10<strong>,&nbsp;</strong>which is an increase from last year (59%). <h2 class="wp-block-heading">What to expect in 2023</h2>



<p>Several things are certain for 2023.  The event landscape has changed, in some ways, for the better since the onset of the Pandemic.  Now that travel restrictions have been loosened and initial fears of the pandemic seem to be waning, many exhibitors and attendees are still eager to get face time with each other.  2023 will present some new considerations:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Event Technology will grow and evolve rapidly. <li>Hybrid Events are here to stay.  While many platforms were rushed to the scene to try and fill the live event gap, some have stuck and we&#8217;re seeing continued use of hybrid events to reach a larger audience.</li>

</ul>

<li>Not shipping collateral (studies still show that 80% of it never leaves the show city, yet companies still spend thousands on printing and shipping costs)</li>
</ul>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Sourcing exhibit rentals regionally. The supply chain woes that have plagued our economy are getting slightly better, however many of our manufacturing partners are still seeing longer than traditional lead times on fabrication and production (including Apogee). </p>

<p>We&#8217;re excited to announce a few new things in the works here at Apogee!</p>



<p>We&#8217;ve recently launched our Tive GPS tracking resource. These wireless GPS/cellular units get attached to your shipment.&nbsp; This gives real time visibility to see where your exhibit shipments are, and when they are delivered.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Future of the Live Event/Exhibition Landscape:</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.ceir.org/">The Center for Exhibition Industry Research</a> recently released their Index report for 2022 and beyond.&nbsp; It is packed full of useful information to help you justify your budget for the future, and to help target financial resources properly to achieve the ROI needed to continue exhibiting.&nbsp; If you&#8217;d like more information about this report please get in touch with us and we&#8217;ll be happy to share further details.&nbsp; Here are a few take-aways:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>Both participation and Attendance grew through the first two Quarters of 2022 and is expected to recover further in 2023.</li><li>While attendance is still down in many segments, the buying influence and decision making power of those attendees is higher than prior periods.&nbsp; This is largely based on many organizations sending only qualified buyers to the events in an effort to stream line and save travel costs.&nbsp; This has worked out to be a benefit to the Exhibitor.</li><li>Despite rising inflation and the prospects of a recession, the industry is poised to continue it&#8217;s recovery into 2023.</li></ul>
